How can a print shop get a vector from a customer’s PNG logo?

Send the customer a link that explains, in plain words, why you need a vector and lets them convert the logo themselves, or convert it yourself: drop the PNG into SVGProof, check the result zoomed in, and download SVG, EPS, AI or PDF. Flat logos, AI-made ones included, take about a minute. Redraw only the ones a trace cannot fix.

What can I send a customer who only has a PNG?

Forward My printer says my logo isn't a vector: it explains the problem without jargon and has the converter one click away. Or paste this into your reply:

“To print your logo sharp we need it as a vector file (SVG, PDF, EPS or AI). If you only have a PNG or JPG, you can convert it here in a few minutes: https://svgproof.com/guides/printer-says-not-vector. Send us the file and we take it from there.”

How do I convert it myself?

  1. Drop the customer’s PNG or JPG on the converter.
  2. For screen printing, limit the colors or merge near-duplicates so every ink is one clean shape; snap them to the customer’s brand colors if you have them.
  3. Download SVG, EPS, AI and PDF for your RIP or cutter software.

What does it cost a shop?

Converting and checking are free. A download costs one credit per logo, every format included: $10 buys 25 once, or $12 / month gives 200 credits each period, which also work on the API. Details on pricing.

Can we connect it to our order system?

Yes: the API takes one image per request, or up to 100 per batch, and returns the SVG in the response, with brand-color snapping, background removal and a color limit as parameters. It spends the same credits as the website.

Is our customers’ artwork kept?

Your image is traced in memory on our server and deleted about 30 minutes after you last use it. It is not saved to permanent storage, backups or logs, and is used only to convert it: we keep technical totals, such as processing times, never the image.

Business accounts can accept our data processing agreement. Customers you send to us can earn you credits through the referral program.

When is SVGProof the wrong tool?

  • Embroidery beyond a simple fill. Our experimental EXP file sews each color as a fill; satin lettering, DST or PES files and a file tuned to the fabric still need a digitizer, who starts from a vector like ours.
  • Logos that need redrawing (texture, shading, tiny text): a trace keeps those flaws (how to decide).
  • Photos and painterly art. They have no clean shapes to find, so we refuse them instead of returning thousands of blobs. A photo needs a different tool or a designer.
