PNG to SVG converter

To convert a PNG to SVG, drop it on this page. SVGProof traces the shapes into smooth vector paths with exact shared edges, keeps a transparent background transparent, and merges stray shades into the colors the design really has. It works on logos, icons and flat graphics; photos are refused rather than faked. Free preview, no sign-up.

What does a PNG to SVG converter actually do?

A real converter traces: it finds the edges in the pixels and redraws every shape as curves, so the SVG stays sharp at any size and each color can be edited. Some converters only wrap the PNG in SVG tags. The file ends in .svg but still holds the same pixels, blurs when enlarged, and a printer or cutting machine cannot use it. The SVG checker shows which kind you have.

How do I convert a PNG to SVG?

  1. Drop the logo on this page (or paste it). PNG, JPG or WEBP up to 5 MB and 17 megapixels (8192 px on a side); larger images are scaled to 4 megapixels first.
  2. Compare the vector with your image in the editor, zoomed in. Remove the background, merge near-duplicate colors or snap them to your brand colors if you need to.
  3. Download the SVG (one credit) and open it in Figma, Illustrator, Inkscape, Affinity, or send it to your printer.

What happens to a transparent PNG?

Transparent areas stay empty: the SVG gets no background shape, and the soft edge pixels become the outline. If your PNG has a white or colored background instead, that background is its own layer, which you can remove in the editor before you download.

Which PNGs convert well?

ImageResult
Logos, icons, wordmarks, emblemsClean shapes, few points, true corners
AI-made logos (ChatGPT, Midjourney, Gemini)Clean, after the near-duplicate shades are merged
Small or screenshot copies of a logoGood; crop to the logo and use the largest copy you have
Gradients and glowsFlat color steps, which suits print
Photos, paintings, textured artRefused: they have no clean shapes to find

Is PNG to vector the same as PNG to SVG?

Yes. SVG is the most common vector format, and the same trace downloads as SVG, EPS, AI, PDF and DXF. For a JPEG, see JPG to SVG; for EPS, see PNG to EPS.

When is SVGProof the wrong tool?

  • Line art you want as single strokes for a pen plotter or engraving: we trace filled outlines, not one center line.
  • Photos and painterly art. They have no clean shapes to find, so we refuse them instead of returning thousands of blobs. A photo needs a different tool or a designer.
  • Embroidery beyond a simple fill. Our experimental EXP file sews each color as a fill; satin lettering, DST or PES files and a file tuned to the fabric still need a digitizer, who starts from a vector like ours.

Questions

Is it free?

Converting, comparing and editing are free and need no account; a PNG up to 512 px is free too. The SVG and full-size PNG of one logo cost one credit ($10 buys 25).

What is the largest PNG I can convert?

PNG, JPG or WEBP up to 5 MB and 17 megapixels (8192 px on a side); larger images are scaled to 4 megapixels first.

Can I get EPS, AI or PDF too?

Yes. One credit covers every format of the same logo: SVG, EPS, AI, PDF, DXF, PNG at 1x, 2x or 4x, and EXP embroidery (experimental).

Is my image stored?

Your image is traced in memory on our server and deleted about 30 minutes after you last use it. It is not saved to permanent storage, backups or logs, and is used only to convert it: we keep technical totals, such as processing times, never the image.
