PNG to EPS

To convert a PNG to EPS, upload it here. SVGProof traces the logo into vector shapes and writes them as an EPS, so the file holds paths, not your original pixels: it scales and separates like any vector a printer expects. The same logo also downloads as SVG, AI and PDF. Free preview, no sign-up.

Is every EPS file a vector?

No. EPS can carry pixels too, and a file converter that only changes the container gives you your PNG inside an EPS: same blur, same background, and printers reject it. A vector EPS has to be traced first. That is what this page does.

Why do printers ask for EPS?

EPS has been the exchange format of print shops, sign makers and promotional-products suppliers for decades, and many of their workflows still start from it. Most also accept PDF and AI now. If you are unsure, send the format they name; see what file format a printer needs.

How do I convert a PNG to EPS?

  1. Drop the PNG or JPG on this page. PNG, JPG or WEBP up to 5 MB and 17 megapixels (8192 px on a side); larger images are scaled to 4 megapixels first.
  2. Compare the vector with your image, zoomed in. Remove the background and merge near-duplicate colors if you need to.
  3. Choose EPS in the download menu (one credit). AI, PDF and SVG of the same logo are included.

Does it work from a JPG?

Yes: JPG to EPS works the same way, and JPEG compression blocks are cleaned up before the trace. See JPG to SVG.

When is SVGProof the wrong tool?

  • A photo as EPS. That is a pixel EPS, which any image editor saves; a vector cannot represent a photo, and we refuse photos.
  • Embroidery beyond a simple fill. Our experimental EXP file sews each color as a fill; satin lettering, DST or PES files and a file tuned to the fabric still need a digitizer, who starts from a vector like ours.

Questions

Is it free?

Converting, comparing and editing are free and need no account; a PNG up to 512 px is free too. The SVG and full-size PNG of one logo cost one credit ($10 buys 25).

Can I open the EPS in Illustrator?

Yes, and the AI download opens there directly. In Inkscape or Affinity, the SVG or PDF is the easiest start.

Is my image stored?

Your image is traced in memory on our server and deleted about 30 minutes after you last use it. It is not saved to permanent storage, backups or logs, and is used only to convert it: we keep technical totals, such as processing times, never the image.
